I think the main problem is that a lot of young guitarists only know Clapton’s softer hits, and his reggae stuff. There is a new generation of young guitar players my age and below that don’t understand why Clapton was God. So if you want to improve your guitar skills, and become a well-rounded guitarist, you have to go back and learn what the guitar was. Those songs that were technically challenging at that time, have now become the foundation and back-bone of modern guitar. Since the 1960’s, the guitar has obviously evolved and gotten much more technical. At the time, Killing Floor was one of the more technically challenging songs (Especially at the speed people like Hendrix started playing it at) Steppin’ Out was also one of those technically challenging, impressive songs. Killing Floor by Howlin’ Wolf was one of these songs. These songs were often considered to be a “right of passage” for guitarists. Indirectly, this led to a major shift in youth culture and created the hippy movement of free love, peace and psychedelia. It helped to set the British Blues boom in motion, which in turn led to the birth of rock music. John Mayall’s Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton is an album that changed the history of music. Playing along with the book reveals the author has got the ‘touch’ necessary for translating Mick Taylor ’s exquisite work. More importantly, the tablature and notation is accurate, capturing all the intricate fills and delicate bends typical of Mick Taylor ’s early work. The print quality and layout of the book is outstanding. “This Mick Taylor book is amazing! Ignoring the fact that any Mayall-era Mick Taylor notation/tabs are almost non-existent, the work that has gone into this book is obvious. The tabs themselves are accurate and easy to read. As far as I know, you are the only resource for tabs of this period.
